VINALHAVEN — Stephen J. Small, 63, of Vinalhaven, died on Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Sussman House in Rockport surrounded by his family after a long illness.  Born in Camden on March 22, 1955, he was the son of Hartland James and Lulu (Nystrom) Small.  He was a 1973 graduate of Vinalhaven High School.

Stephen had worked as a commercial fisherman most of his life. 

Surviving are his children, Crystal Small, Raymond Small and his wife, Andrea; Rick Cash, Jr. and his wife, Heather; and eleven grandchildren.  Also surviving are his sisters, sisters, Lynette Woodcock, Brenda Phillip and her husband, Bruce, and Sally Conway.  He was predeceased by a son, Gary L. Small and brothers, Gary and Lyndon. 

A graveside service will be held at 11am, Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Brown’s Head Cemetery in Vinalhaven with Elder Robert Candage officiating.  Condolences may be shared with the family at www.longfuneralhomecamden.com.
