Stella Marie Henry, obituary
ROCKPORT — Stella Marie Henry, 89, of Rockport, died June 8, 2015, at Knox Center For Long Term Care in Rockland. Born in Millinocket on July 22, 1925, she was the daughter of John Thomas and Estella (Reynolds) Pound, and was a graduate of Stearns High School in Millinocket.
During World War II, Marie worked as a riveter at Chanceforth Aircraft in Wallingford, Conn. In 1951, she met her future husband, Robert W. Henry, in a restaurant in Hartford, and 45 days later they were married.
Marie loved to bake, and worked as a waitress in several restaurants in Connecticut. In 1986, Marie and Bob moved from Bolton, Conn., to Rockport.
She was a former member of American Legion Auxiliary Post #1 in Rockland, and a member of the DAV and the DAV Auxiliary.
Marie was predeceased by her daughter, Lorrie Henry. Surviving is her husband of 63 years, Robert W. Henry of Rockport; three children, Teri Jaquith her husband, Norman, of Coventry, Conn., Patricia Verteveulle and her husband, Wayne, of Norwich, Conn., and Robert W. Henry Jr. and his wife, Tracy, of Columbia, Conn.; a sister, Theresa Madore and her husband, Henry, of Millinocket; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Jim Henry and Gary (Lynne) Henry; and her sisters-in-law, Janet Stephens (Don) and Barbara (Roger) Vroom.
There are no services planned at this time. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
