State investigates commercial truck arson in Poland, Scarborough
The State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the coordinated arson fires Sunday night that destroyed six tractor trailer cabs and damaged two more at the R. C. Moore trucking locations in Poland and Scarborough. No one was injured and damage will approach $1 million, according to a news release from the Maine Dept. of Public Safety. The fires were reported three minutes apart and four trucks were destroyed at each location.
The fire at the company's 8 Ginn Road location in Scarborough was reported at 8:16 p.m. and the fire at the company lot at 4 Spring Water Road along Route 122 in Poland was reported at 8:19 p.m. The trucks were parked nose to nose and firefighters stopped the flames from reaching other trucks parked alongside.
The fire in Poland was reported by a passing truck driver and the fire in Scarborough was reported by a truck driver, sleeping in his cab in the parking lot .
Fire Marshal investigators have worked throughout the night and federal investigators from the ATF's Maine offices will join them today.
