Shared Camden, Maine family remembrances:
It is with deep sadness that the McGrath family announces the passing of Stanton Clarence McGrath, on January 2, 2026 at age 86. He was born the third of four children to his parents, Phylis Mary McGrath and Francis Patrick McGrath (Pat) on a beautiful Sunday morning on August 11, 1940 in Camden, Maine. He attended his lower education classes in Camden, from his first day at the Mary E. Taylor School, on through local schools, and to his high school graduation in 1958.
Stan was predeceased by wife Carol McGrath and their cherished son, Scot McGrath, who passed away recently. He was also predeceased by his sister, Patricia (Pat Cokinis) and his two brothers, James and Thomas McGrath.
He was well known in Camden as a very happy, energenic, and lively young man. Spending sunny days at the beach in warm months, looking after the young’uns, or gathering blueberries on the Mountain with his friends. He loved helping our neighbors and tourists down on the docks, often finding work on a boat, or fishing on warm summer days, and enjoying days at the Snow Bowl, and shoveling snow in the colder months.
After his high school years, Stan publicly served his home town by joining the local police department, where he proudly worked alongside his father and his younger brother Tommy. The two were often stationed at the local movie drive-in theater or at other local events.
It wasn’t too long before Tommy was drafted, and Stan followed his heart by joining the United States Navy.
Corpus Christi, Family remembrances, and Honors, shared by Charles McGrath, and family.
Stanton Clarence McGrath will be remembered in Texas. “Stan the Man” was the preferred title, by those who knew him well, as a “True American Hero”, with gratitude, and pride for a life well lived. We honor a man whose quiet strength, unwavering service, and a generous heart has left a lasting imprint on everyone who knew him. Stanton Clarence McGrath proudly served his country in the United States Navy, retiring as a Chief Master-At-Arms. A position of profound trust and responsibility, entrusted with security, leadership, and the protection of others, with 23 years of honorable service, including three tours in Vietnam.
To his loving family, he was a real-life superhero. There was nothing he couldn't do. No challenge he wouldn't face, and no sacrifice he wouldn't make for others. His service continued well beyond the Navy. He also faithfully served his community as a volunteer firefighter and constable, always ready to help, always answering the call. Service was not just what he did, it was who he was. Stan had a heart of gold. Quiet and humble, yet when he spoke, his sense of humor could light up a room. His perfectly timed ‘dad jokes’ were legendary. We laughed often, sometimes groaning, always smiling. Those moments were treasures we will carry forever…
Stan is survived by his loving wife Marylee McGrath, who came into his life and brought him happiness, comfort, and shared peace. Marylee loved him deeply and cared for him with tenderness and devotion, and she was profoundly loved in return. He also leaves behind his devoted son Charles McGrath, whom he loved beyond measure. In everything Charles does and says, we see his father living on. His values, his humor, his strength, and his steady presence are a daily reminder that his dad's legacy continues through him. We miss him more than words can express. Yet we know he is never truly gone. He lives on in our stories, in our hearts, our laughter, our faith, and the many lives he has touched. His legacy of service, and quiet strength will always remain with us.
Forever loved. Forever honored. Forever with us. The McGrath family.
