St. George selects Rick Erb as new town manager
ST. GEORGE — On Monday, June 21, the St. George Select Board unanimously selected Rick Erb, of Brunswick, to be their next town manager, to start July 6. He will succeed Tim Polky, who has served the Town in various capacities for 51 years and been its town manager since 2017.
“I have the ultimate respect for everything Tim has done for the Town of St. George and am very grateful for the information and advice he has shared with me so far,” said Erb, in a news release. “I plan to take full advantage of his generous offer of continued assistance when I come onboard in July.”
Erb, who grew up in Castine, has served as town manager in Gouldsboro, Winterport, and Kennebunk. More recently, he has held the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of the Maine Health Care Association in Augusta. He holds a bachelor’s degree in public management from the University of Maine and a master’s degree in community and rural development from Cornell University.
Rick and his wife, Shannon, who is an elementary school teacher, are looking forward to becoming active members of the St. George community.
“Shannon was born in Belfast and I grew up on the other side of Penobscot Bay, so there are many things about St. George that feel familiar to us,” said Erb. “There was an immediate appeal for both of us when we visited this spring.”
