St. George man going to jail for stealing medical supplies from hospital
ROCKLAND — A St. George man was sentenced to 60 days in jail for stealing medical supplies from Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport while he was visiting a friend who was a patient.
Jacob A. Graf, 24, was sentenced March 29 by Judge Paul Mathews in Knox County Unified Court for theft and possession of scheduled drugs. He was also fined $400 for the drug possession charge.
According to the police affidavit filed by Rockport Police officer Robbie Shaw, Graf was seen on the hospital’s security camera stealing medical supplies. He told police that he had permission to take the supplies, but could not provide the name of the staff person to support his statement.
When Graf was arrested, police also found he was in possession of Suboxone, Oxycodone and Xanax. He did not have prescriptions for any of these medications, according to the court document.
The stolen supplies included rubber gloves, iodine pads, medical tape and rubber tourniquets.
Graf also violated his probation at the time of his arrest. He had previous convictions for theft and forgery charges in November, 2014.
