CASTINE — Searsport native Melinda Ogden, a senior on the women’s basketball team at Maine Maritime Academy, has collected a trio of new accolades this month.

She has been named to the D3hoops.com All-Northeast Region third team.

She was selected to be a participant for the New England Women’s Basketball Association (NEWBA) Senior All-Star Classic, which was ultimately called off amid COVID-19.

She was also named to the Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) second team all-state.

The international business and logistics major led the Mariners with 14.3 points per game this season and averaged 14.4 points per game against conference opponents, according to a news release.

During the regular season Ogden became just the ninth player in program to surpass 1,000 career points, set a new single-game record for three-pointers in a game (9) and broke the career record for three-pointers made (245), the release said.

Ogden also tied the school’s single-game record with a career-high 33 points against Northern Vermont University-Johnson.

Earlier this month, she was named the 2019-2020 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women’s basketball Player of the Year and to the conference’s first team all-conference squad.
