Food For Friends pantry served ‘dozens’ last year

School food pantry anticipates increased demand

WALDO — Waldo County Technical Center (WCTC) starts each year ready to teach teenagers new skills. However, WCTC provides many services beyond career and technical education, according to WCTC, in a news release. One of these services is the Food For Friends pantry, which helps students who live with food insecurity.

Last year, the pantry helped dozens of students, both with snacks to eat during school time and with food and toiletries to use at home. The school is expecting even more demand for help this year. Because of the increased student need, WCTC is in constant need of donations to replenish food and supplies.

The most effective way to help restock the shelves of the FFF pantry is with money or gift cards. That way, staff can purchase what students truly need and want.

If you are interested in participating in this cause, donations can be mailed to or dropped off at: Waldo County Technical Center between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., at 1022 Waterville Road, Waldo, Maine 04915.

WCTC will also be accepting food and monetary donations at their annual open house on the evening of October 23.
