CAMDEN — Sandra Lee Reed, 70, was called home on Thursday, October 24, 2019. She transitioned peacefully with her son Eric by her side. In her final days she was surrounded by an abundance of family and friends.

Sandra was born in Richmond, Virginia and was the daughter of Maynard Leroy and Glenda Marie Malmstrom Black, both originally of Rockland. She was a sister to the late Leroy Maynard Black of Sydney.

Sandra was a longtime resident of Rockland and attended Rockland area schools. For over 20 years she was employed by the Knox Center for Long Term Care. The staff there not only became friends and felt like family,
but also served as her caregivers towards her life’s end.

Sandra came from humble beginnings and a limited education. She was a hard worker who always encouraged her children to do more, they were her first priority. She was a single mother who did her best to provide a safe
and loving home. Her kids were the love of her life.

Sandra also provided childcare for the many children in her extended family. She was like a big sister to many.

Sandra always made sure other people’s needs were taken care of even though she struggled in her own life. Seeing her children and those around her happy brought her much joy.

Sandra loved to paint her nails, dance, and listen to her great-uncles, Dalton Malmstrom and Raymond Olson sing and play their instruments. She was the keeper of stories passed down from those who went before her. She was especially proud of her Swedish heritage and her father’s military service.

Although her life was long and hard and she was often ill, she found joy in life’s simple treasures: family, spring flowers, the first snowfall and the warm sun on her face. She left this world knowing in the end, she was
loved and touched many lives along the way.

Sandra is survived by her sons, William Reed, III of Miami, FL, and Eric Reed of Camden; grandchildren, Georgia Harmon, Simon Tuner (Dakota Reed), Daisy Bragdon, William Bragdon; great-grandchildren, Giannah M.
Monteiro, Anjaliah M. Diaz; her sisters, Donna McKown, Shirley Seavey, Dixie Landre Roy, Pat White, Louise Simmons; a brother, Kendal Black; many nieces, nephews, cousins; and amazing life-long friends that she
loved dearly.

Sandra’s family wishes to thank her caregivers, Melissa Donaher, Christopher Vydas and her entire Applewood Apartments family.

Sandra’s family has chosen to remember her life privately.
