Russell E. Lofman, obituary
ROCKLAND — Russell E. Lofman, 80, a lifelong resident of the Midcoast area, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Breakwater Commons in Rockland.
Born on July 14, 1945, Russell was the son of the late Eino and Lina (Mackie) Lofman. He attended schools in both Rockland and Rockport, forming friendships and ties to the community that would last a lifetime.
Russell was a man of the outdoors, possessing a tireless work ethic that defined his character. He spent the majority of his life working in the logging business, self-employed and with Mike Brooks. In addition to his career in logging, Russell took great pride in his family’s heritage. He was an integral part of his grandfather’s blueberry business in Rockville.
Russell was predeceased by his beloved wife, Francis Lofman, whose memory he carried with him always. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Eino and Lina; his brother, Frederick Lofman; and his nephew, Okie Lofman.
His memory will be cherished by his surviving family, including his sisters, Nancy Lofman Ransom Means of South Charleston, West Virginia, and Susan Lofman Zinowich of Pittsburg, California. He also leaves behind a devoted and very special friend, Ina Firth, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In honoring Russell’s wishes, there will be no immediate services. The family looks forward to gathering with friends and neighbors for a graveside burial, which will be announced in the spring.
Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
