RSU 71 Referendum passes, despite defeats in Belmont, Morrill and Swanville

Belfast voters helped carry the RSU 71 school construction and renovation bond question well into the favorable margin, with the total votes from the five school district towns coming in at 3,705 to 2,823. Voters in Belmont, Morrill and Swanville defeated the question, but the wide margin of “Yes” votes in Belfast and Searsmont gave it a win.

Question 1 - Do you favor authorizing the school board of Regional School Unit Not. 71 (RSU 71) to issue bonds or notes in the name of RSU 71 for school construction and renovation purposes in an amount not to exceed $7,600,000 to construct and equip additions and renovations to the Belfast Area High School?
