BELFAST — RSU 71 will hold a celebration of the substantial completion of the Belfast Area High School renovation and construction project.

On Monday, Aug. 26 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. there will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony in front of the new wing, which is to the left of the high school entrance, past the pool and football field.

After a short speech, there will be an ice cream social, with a variety of frozen treats on hand under the canopy entrance to the school as well as an open house for the newly renovated and constructed spaces within the school.

The $7.6 million project entailed renovation of the entrance, lobby, cafeteria, locker rooms, pool and home economics classroom as well as the construction of a brand new two-story wing housing the math department and special education classrooms.

The old special education wing was renovated and will house the district’s Central Office and Adult Education spaces.

All community members are cordially invited to this celebration.
