UNITY — A decision to support a plan for the fall sports season amid COVID-19 was reached by the Regional School Unit 3 school board at its Monday, Sept. 14 meeting.

RSU 3 has athletic teams at Mount View Middle School and Mount View High School. Both schools are in Thorndike.

The news came over social media with a tweet posted following the meeting to the account of RSU 3 Superintendent Charles Brown and a Facebook post credited to MVHS Principal Zack Freeman.

“Athletic [D]irector [Thomas] Lynch will be providing additional communications throughout the next week in order to prepare for the fall season,” Freeman stated.

For the fall seasons, Mount View sponsors athletic teams in football, soccer, golf, cross country and field hockey.

The sport of football, statewide, is expected to be played at another point of the year instead of during the fall as it usually is.
