Rockland voters provide input on marijuana through advisory questions
ROCKLAND — Voters in Rockland were not met with binding municipal questions on their November 2018 ballots.
Instead, Rockland residents were asked to respond to four non-binding advisory questions regarding marijuana and its potential presence in the city.
Advisory questions are defined by Ballotpedia.org as “a type of ballot measure in which citizens vote on a non-binding question.” The website notes advisory questions “will not result in a new, changed or rejected law or constitutional amendment” and “symbolically makes heard the general opinion of the voting population in regard to the issue at hand.”
The four advisory questions were as follows:
Advisory Question 1: Do you support allowing adult use marijuana stores in the City?
Advisory Question 2: Do you support allowing adult use marijuana stores in the downtown area of the City?
Advisory Question 3: Do you support allowing medical marijuana stores in the City?
Advisory Question 4: Do you support allowing medical marijuana stores in the downtown area of the city?
