Rockland Public Library recognizes Library Card Sign-up Month
ROCKLAND — Celebrate Library Card Sign-up Month this September at Rockland Public Library. The Library is inviting everyone to discover, or re-discover, the resources and opportunities available to the public by signing up for a library card.
“Rockland Public Library is a treasure trove of information, and more than just books,” said RPL, in a news release.
The Library offers a diverse range of programs open to the public, book clubs for adults and youth, children’s story times, author talks, musical performances, and more.
“While a library card is not needed in order for you to enjoy browsing, programs, and events, it is necessary for borrowing from our fantastic collection of physical books, and also thousands of audiobooks and e-books (and more) courtesy of Hoopla and the CloudLibrary,” said RPL.
Have you been curious about exploring a new hobby or learning a new language? RPL has the resources you need, including a weekly French group, according to the news release. Do you need help on a project for school or have a tech question? Book one of the librarians to help you out. Want to get out and about for a chat? Join the Wednesday Walkers and get some exercise, enjoy the fresh air, and make some new friends.
Signing up for a library card in September automatically enters you into a raffle to win a fantastic prize. If current cardholders bring in a friend to sign up for a new card, you’ll be entered in the raffle. Patrons with an expired card, come renew your account and you’ll also be entered in the raffle. Winners will be drawn at random on September 30.
People who live in or own property in the city of Rockland, and members of the Coast Guard stationed in Rockland, are eligible for a free card. Children and teachers in Knox County through 12th grade are also eligible for a free card thanks to Friends of Rockland Public Library.
Nonresidents pay an annual fee of $45 (for an individual or family card), and there is a short-term 3-month membership available for $25. Please bring a photo ID and proof of current physical address (a bill, checkbook, lease agreement, etc.) to get a library card.
“There’s truly something for everyone at the Rockland Public Library,” said RPL. “Getting a library card is easy and everyone should have one. We hope to see you soon.”
