Rockland businesses donate picnic tables for public use
ROCKLAND — The City of Rockland held a small ceremony in Buoy Park Wednesday, June 24, to thank volunteers and organizations for their contributions to a project that has brought picnic tables to Rockland's public parks.
Rockland's parks commission and recreation department coordinated efforts necessary in finding area businesses and organizations willing to contribute picnic tables to Rockland's parks, which are enjoyed by visitors and residents alike.
The following businesses and organizations donated picnic tables to the City of Rockland:
Maine State Prison – Prison Industries Program
Lowes
Rockland Savings Bank
Bar Harbor Bank and Trust
Bangor Savings Bank
Wasses Hot Dogs
Dunkin' Donuts

This summer the Maine State Prison’s Prison Industry Program built and donated disability accessible picnic tables, which cater to people who require wheelchair access.
These are the first tables of this type constructed by the Prison Industry Program, and the first disability-accessible picnic tables to be acquired by the City of Rockland.
