Rockland American Legion to hold 2024 Veteran's Day Ceremony, Nov. 11
ROCKLAND — The officers and members of Rockland's Winslow-Holbrook-Merritt American Legion Post Number 1 will hold their 2024 Veterans Day Ceremony to help honor the area's veterans from all eras and all branches of the United Sates Armed Forces.
The event takes place Monday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m., at Winslow-Holbrook Park at the corner of Maine and Park Streets in Rockland (The opposite corner from the giant flag pole).
The program will include remarks from Post officers and members, the reading of a poem written especially for the occasion by Rockland's former Poet Laureate Carol Bachofner, and the laying of a memorial wreath by the great great neice of 2nd Lt. Albert Holbrook, for whom the park and the Legion Post is named. Music will be provided by The Bay Winds North ensemble under the direction of Marlene Hall.
Veterans Luncheon: Following the ceremony the Ladies Auxiliary of Post Number 1 will be providing a free baked stuff pork and mashed potatoes lunch for all veterans from Noon to 2 p.m. The cost for the luncheon for non veterans will be $10.
