FRIENDSHIP — Brother, son, cousin, uncle and friend. There are not enough words to describe what Robert meant to his family and friends. He brought laughter and life to all who knew him. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Robert Philip Gray, 53, left this world, Wednesday, March 27, 2019 following a period of declining health.

Robert was born to Lloyd and Barbara on February 1, 1966. He grew up with his brother and three sisters in Friendship. He attended Friendship Village School and AD Gray Junior High School. In 1984, he went on to graduate from Medomak Valley High School, where he excelled at baseball and wrestling. He then studied automotive at the University of Maine at Presque Isle.

Robert worked many jobs, from welding, bouncer, carpentry and sternman. He was passionate about the ocean and enjoyed scalloping with his brother. His other passions included singing, fishing, playing the harmonica, and comedy.

“There are always new places to go fishing. For any fisherman, there's always a new place, always a new horizon.”  May you rest in peace, Robert, at your newest fishing hole.

He was a member of Knights of Pythias 102 in Thomaston and the Elks Lodge in Rockland.

Surviving are his parents; his siblings, Lloyd Jr., Lori, Amy, and Melanie; nephews, Chris, Russell, Conner, Nicholas, and Ned; niece Alicia; great-nieces, Alivia and Abby; many cousins; and long-time friends, Eric Mecklin, Mike Jameson, Henry Thompson, Gorden Simmons, Debbie Feyler, Carl Pitcher, Karl Murphy, Larry Nystrom, and many, many more.

If you owned a couch, Robert probably slept on it.

Predeceased was Robert’s nephew Ethan.
