AUGUSTA — Earlier this week, Maine Speaker of the House Ryan Fecteau appointed State Representative Bill Pluecker, I-Warren, to serve on the Agriculture Task Force with the National Conference of State Legislatures.

The Task Force was created to examine state and federal agriculture policy issues and to study critical agriculture issues facing the states. The task force will explore policy options to address these concerns and communicate possible solutions with Congress and the US Department of Agriculture.

“I am honored to be chosen to do this important work with the Ag Task Force in the NCSL,” said Pluecker. “This position will enable me to do the Agricultural Policy work that our rural communities need. On a national level, the particular issues of rural communities are often left out of the national conversation and need a voice. I am excited to be able to add to that conversation in this small way on a national level."

The appointment to the seat is effective immediately.

Pluecker is serving his second term in Augusta and is serving on the Agriculture, Conservation & Forestry Committee, as well as the Criminal Justice & Public Safety Committee.
