ROCKLAND — Renee Mary Hutcheon, 92, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022 at the Sussman House in Rockport, Maine. She was born in London, England on September 18, 1930.

In retirement, Renee and her husband, Jack, moved from New Jersey in 1998 to Maine to be near their friends, Ralph and Anne Ayers. Jack died here in 1999.

While living in Rockland Renee was very active in community affairs. She was a member of the Congregational Church in Camden and served on the Outreach Committee and Heavenly Threads Thrift Shop. Renee was affiliated with the Camden Woman’s Club and the Red Hats. She was also a member of the Camden and Rockport Garden Club.

She was on the board and served as secretary to No. 63 Washington Street in Camden. A volunteer at the Chamber of Commerce for thirteen years and the Camden and Rockport Opera House.

Renee was quick to see the comedy in a situation. When she did, her laugh was infectious. She relished opportunities to give people advice. Her empathy and affinity for animals made pet owners especially vulnerable to her attentions!

She is survived by her son, David Bremner Hutcheon and his wife Catherine; two granddaughters, Sarah Hutcheon Collins (married to Daniel Collins) and Emily Hutcheon; also, her two great granddaughters, Ainsley and Hailey Hutcheon Collins.

In lieu of flower, donations may be made to your local animal shelters: PAWS Animal Adoption Center, Camden (www.pawsadoption.org) or Pope Memorial Humane Center, Rockland (www.popehume.org).
