Raymond C. Robinson Jr., obituary
ROCKLAND – Raymond C. Robinson Jr., 71, died peacefully Jan. 1, 2014, surrounded by his loving family at his home. Born June 20, 1942, in Marlborough, Mass., he was the son of Raymond Sr. and Gloria Cipriano Robinson. Mr. Robinson is formerly of Shrewsbury, Mass.
Serving his country honorably, Mr. Robinson was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps, where he was a military police officer. Following his discharge, Raymond began his career as a truck driver. He drove for more than 40 years before retiring from Bell Atlantic.
Ray was a member of the Marlborough Fish and Game Association as well as the American Legion. He took great joy in driving his Peterbuilt and his Harley, as well as many different sports cars he owned over the years.
Above all, Ray loved spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Ray's passing has left a hole in the hearts of his family that will never be filled.
Predeceased by his father, Raymond is survived by his mother, Gloria Faneuf of Oxford, Mass.; his wife, Alice Robinson of Rockland; his children, Michael Robinson and his partner, Amanda Haskell, of Warren, Kelly Orcutt of Rockland, Gloria Piracci of Worcester, Mass., and Lisa Hyde and her husband, David, of Morgantown, W.Va.; a brother, David Faneuf of Oxford, Mass.; a daughter-in-law, Valerie Robinson of Thomaston; eight grandchildren, Alice Lapierre, Sean Robinson, Erica Molina, Maegen Robinson, Raymond Robinson, Nicholas Piracci, Taylor Piracci and Katrina Hyde; and nine great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to visit Monday, Jan. 6, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland, where a celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. The Rev. Paul Barber will officiate. Interment with military honors will be held in the spring.
