Rainbows abound downtown for Belfast Has Pride Parade
BELFAST — Despite clouds above, the streets of downtown Belfast were alive with laughter and rainbows of all shapes and sizes, all in celebration of the Belfast Has Pride Parade, which took place June 10.
The last two parades have been organized by intrepid local high schoolers, who decided to take over after the parade’s original organizers moved out of state, and no other area adults offered to take the lead.
Residents and visitors turned out in droves to watch the parade make its way down Main Street to Heritage Park, on the waterfront.
After everyone in the parade arrived in Heritage Park the group gathered for food, fun, celebration, and an impromptu dance party. A DJ worked the event, providing ample musical motivation to get everyone in the spirit.
