Pheneta G. Belyea, obituary
ROCKLAND — Pheneta G. Belyea, 93, entered into the arms of her Lord Jesus Christ, Saturday, December 7, 2019, at Country Manor Nursing Home, Coopers Mills, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Born in Island Falls, November 9, 1926, she was the daughter of Otis and Elizabeth Dwyer Fogg. As a young child, Pheneta moved with her family to Owls Head and later to Rockland. She attended local schools.
January 1, 1946, she married Garfield L. Belyea in Rockland. They made their home here, where they raised their family. Mr. Belyea died in 1988.
A devoted homemaker, mother and grandmother, Pheneta was a longtime active member of Littlefield Memorial Baptist Church. For many years she served as teacher for the King’s Daughters Sunday School class. After her own children were grown, she became an assistant teacher at Pen Bay Nursery School in Rockland.
Other than her parents and husband, Pheneta was predeceased by a son, Garfield ‘Skip’ Belyea, Jr. and his wife Maria; her siblings, Dorothy Stevens, Doris Ames, Ralph Fogg and Raymond Fogg.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Deborah L. and James Baker of Rockland, Steven K. and Donna Belyea of Owls Head, William R. and Doreen Belyea of Thomaston, Carol J. and Scott Bisset of Union; her grandchildren Renée Newbig, Mitzi Brown, Melissa Blackington, Ryan Baker, Kenneth Belyea, Michael Belyea, Jody Mahoney, Kristin Lappin and Heather Bisset; twelve great-grandchildren; her sister, Madonna Clark and her husband Alton of Elmyra, NY, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit Saturday, December 14, from 1 to 3 p.m., at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. A graveside funeral service will be announced in the spring.
