Pen Bay Medical Center rated Top Hospital by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
ROCKPORT — Pen Bay Medical Center was recently recognized as one of the top hospitals in the state by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. For the past two years, CMS has conducted the nationwide assessment based on multiple hospital safety scores with a goal to prevent "hospital acquired conditions," according to a press release.
The assessment looked at eight surgical outcomes, such as collapsed lungs, or accidental punctures and tears. It also looked at certain types of catheter and surgical infections.
Medicare tallied the scores and ranked each hospital on a 10-point scale. Pen Bay Medical Center received a score of one, the best ranking a hospital can receive.
"These scores are truly a reflection of our employees' dedication to providing high quality, compassionate, patient centered care. I am pleased that our safety and quality scores have been nationally recognized and am proud of the entire Pen Bay team for their commitment to excellence" said Coastal Healthcare Alliance President and CEO Mark Biscone, in a news release.
