PBMC, WCGH adjust Lab service hours, effective Dec. 20

Fri, 12/17/2021 - 1:00pm

ROCKPORT and BELFAST — Pen Bay Medical Center (PBMC) and Waldo County General Hospital (WCGH) will adjust their outpatient lab services schedules effective Monday, Dec. 20, 2021.

The PBMC lab will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, while the WCGH lab will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Staffing shortages have affected laboratories across the state, and NorDX, our lab services provider, has intensified its recruiting efforts to address this challenge, according to the hospitals, in a news release.

“PBMC and WCGH recognize these changes are inconvenient and we appreciate your understanding and patience,” said the release. “We continue to work with NorDx to expand service hours as soon as possible. The changes will not impact inpatient care or urgent outpatient lab needs.”
