CHESAPEAKE, Virginia — Patricia Ann Perry, 52, former Rockland resident, died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Virginia Beach General Hospital, in Virginia.

Born in Rockland, July 9, 1968, she was one of six children born to Ethel Gray DeMass. Educated locally, she was a 1986 graduate of Rockland District High School.

Following high school, Patricia began her career in retail, first at the Rockland I.G.A. and later at Rockland True Value Hardware Store located on Main Street. After several years of employment there, Trish took her knowledge of the hardware industry to E.L. Spear in Rockland where she was a smiling face and helping hand for over 10 years. Trish also enjoyed employment at Erickson’s Hardware in Hampden and Meiggs Hardware in Chesapeake, Virginia.

When she wasn’t busy working, Trish could be found tending her numerous beautiful and bountiful flower and vegeteble gardens. She was an extremely skilled gardener and could educate just about anyone on the ins and outs of planting and maintaining a garden.
She also enjoyed crafting and made many thoughtful personalized gifts for those she loved. Hosting family barbeques and pool parties at her home in Hampden were other favorite pastimes. Trish loved her hometown of Rockland, but has enjoyed living in Virginia for the past four years with her husband Tom.

Trish was lovingly remembered by her family with the following words: “Trish had a genuine passion for people, always showing care and support and would do anything for anyone. She was the strongest person I know, especially these past two years, she never gave up and was always positive even in the face of adversity. She lived a life that was purposeful and I am honored to have spent 28 years with her, heaven has a new angel and I know she is having a wonderful reunion with her Mom that she loved dearly. Rest in peace my love. Tom, Sierra, and Zac.”

She will be sadly missed by all who loved her.

She leaves behind her husband, Thomas Perry of Chesapeake, Virginia; her daughter, Sierra Grogan and her husband Kyle of Orland; her son, Zachary Perry of Chesapeake, Virginia; her siblings, Christopher DeMass of South Thomaston, Nadine Phelps of Auburn, Brenda Davis of Union, Lynne Squires of Thomaston, Richard DeMass of Nobleboro; her parents-in-law, George and Christine Perry of Warren; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to visit Monday, July 12, 2021 from 5 to 7 p.m., at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland, where a celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at 10 a.m. The celebration and remembrance service will be led by Trish’s very best friend, Chaplain Toni Troxell.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pope Memorial Humane Society of Knox County, P.O. Box 1294, Rockland, Maine 04841.
