ROCKLAND — Patricia D. “Pat” Poland, 75, died peacefully, Friday, January 22, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Rockland, December 9, 1945 she was the daughter of Dennis and Martha Cassidy Ames. Pat grew up in Rockland and later in Bath where she attended boarding school.

Later Pat returned to Rockland where she married Robert Poland, Sr. Together they had three children, but later divorced.

Pat worked various jobs through her life including at the Catherine Brown Home and with Mail Services.

Pat would be the first to tell you that the first half of her life was not an easy path, however she stayed grounded and centered by studying Karate for many years. When she was 70 years old, she earned her 5 th degree Black
Belt. Studying at the Taylor School for Martial Arts and Taekwondo was her passion and she poured her whole heart into it.

A talented artist, she enjoyed drawing animations and cartoons. She also enjoyed listening to country music and gospel hymns.

In 2012 Pat accepted the Lord Jesus as her personal Savior and became an active member of the Littlefield Memorial Baptist Church. She was proud to have been baptized in 2013 and she took great joy in attending bible studies and the Kings Daughter’s Sunday School Class. Her family said, her life was a true redemption story. From a difficult childhood, to not seeing her children from a young age, with the help of her Lord, Pat was able to turn things around and enjoy meaningful, loving relationships with her children and family. This brought her great peace and comfort over the years.

Her family was her number one priority and she loved nothing more than gatherings, celebrations and family outings. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grands was something she never missed out on. She was a faithful card sender, never missing a birthday or holiday and she always slipped a dollar or two into each card.

She will be missed just as fiercely as she loved.

Predeceased by her parents; a brother, Richard E. Ames; and a sister Judith Booth; Pat is survived by her children, Terry L. Poland of Augusta, Cheryl Johnson and her husband Ron of Appleton, Robert Poland, Jr. of Waldoboro; her sister, Paula Watson of Rockland; her brother D.
