Wilson Street/Route 1A westbound to I-395

Overnight ramp closures at Brewer’s Wilson Street Bridge, April 12-14

Mon, 04/12/2021 - 4:30pm

BREWER — The Maine Department of Transportation's ongoing work on the new Wilson Street Bridge will require overnight ramp closures this week while the contractor, Wyman & Simpson, Inc., installs structural steel. The I-395 ramps under the bridge will be closed to traffic from 9 p.m., on Monday, April 12 to 6 a.m. on Tuesday, April 13, and then again from 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13 to 6 a.m. on Wednesday, April 14.

Traffic that normally uses the ramp from Wilson Street/Route 1A westbound to I-395 westbound will be detoured west along Wilson Street, go left to Parkway South, and then go right to the I-395 westbound on-ramp. Traffic that normally uses the ramp from I-395 eastbound to Wilson Street/Route 1A westbound will be detoured from I-395 to Exit 5, go right on Parkway South, and then go right to Wilson Street.

The Wilson Street Bridge replacement project is the first phase of MaineDOT's I-395/Route 9 Connector project. This project will complete the "missing link" between I-395 and Route 9. The new road will improve connectivity, mobility, and safety in the region. This project will provide economic benefits to both the Bangor area and the entire State of Maine.
