Olympia Sports to close Belfast location, retain Rockland location

    WESTBROOK — Eight Olympia Sports locations across the state of Maine will be closing, including the company’s Belfast location, according to a press release issued Oct. 31.  

    The Belfast store, located in the Reny’s Plaza on Belmont Avenue, joins the Bangor Mall, Biddeford, Farmington, Freeport, Sanford, South Paris and Wells locations in closing in the state. 

    The company is also closing eight locations in Connecticut, one in Delaware, 22 in Massachusetts, four in Maryland, seven in New Hampshire, one in New Jersey, 12 in New York, six in Pennsylvania, two in Rhode Island, two in Virginia and three in Vermont. 

    In total, 76 locations will close following the company being acquired by sports retailer JackRabbit.

    The remaining 75 locations, including the Rockland location, will continue to operate under the Olympia Sports name, according to the release. 

    Store closing sales started today, Nov. 1, with discounts offered on all men’s, women’s, and children’s sneakers, running shoes, basketball shoes, boots, joggers, sweatpants, hoodies, sweatshirts, long and short sleeved t-shirts, coats, socks, hats, and more.
