Oceanside, Mount View play to 0-0 tie in double overtime


















THOMASTON – The 80-minute regulation and the two five-minute overtimes were not enough to get a win for either team as they played for 90-minutes without a goal.
According to the home scorebook, the visiting Mustangs of Mount View did not get a shot on goal in the game. Oceanside, on the other hand, had 19 shots, some golden opportunities that they just could not finish.
Mustang goalie Jenni Nadeau had a lot to do the stopping the Mariners with her 19 saves in the game. Ball possession, especially in the second half, was dominated by the Mariners in this match. Kalyn Grover was in goal for Oceanside where she had no shots and no saves.
Makenna Brooks had five shots; Casey Jo Pine four; Kelsey Brooks two; and Hope Butler, Abby Veilleux, Lily McVetty, Jillian Brooks, Haylie Witham, Brianna Dugan, Cassidy Boynton, and Chloe Jones all had one shot each.
Oceanside held the edge in corners 6-0, and direct kicks, 9-5.
For Mount View, they started the game in 13th place and out of the playoff picture. With the tie with Oceanside, they have moved up to ninth place in the Maine Principals’ Association Heal Point Standings for Class B North. The top 12 teams make the postseason. Oceanside remains in first place at 11-0-2, while Mount View goes to 5-5-3.
Mount View will travel to Newport to take on Nokomis Monday, Oct. 19 at 3:30 and Oceanside will host the Belfast Lions for a 5:30 p.m. game under the lights at Wasgatt Memorial Field.
Oceanside will play for the Kennebec Valley Athletic Association Championship Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. when they take on Waterville at Lincoln Academy undertake lights.
