Oceanside falls in overtime to Nokomis
















ROCKLAND – Thursday was a magnificent day to be on the field playing field hockey. For Nokomis, it was a little more pleasant as they went home with a 2-1 overtime win over Oceanside.
Taylor Hamlin scored the first goal of the game at 7:36 in the first half and held that advantage to the end of the first half.
In the second half with the Mariners holding onto their slim lead, allowed Nokomis to tie the game with 6:20 remaining in regulation.
With the score tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation, the game was sent to overtime where scored on a penalty corner with 5:26 left in the game.
Lauren Hoppe made six saves on eight shots in the loss while Chelsea Crockett worked the goal for the Warriors and made seven saves on eight shots.
Oceanside had nine penalty corners with one in overtime and Nokomis had seven with one in overtime.
Oceanside falls to 2-5-1 on the season and currently is in eighth place in the Heal Point Standing. The top 10 go to the playoffs.
