ROCKLAND — Alydia is quite the well-rounded and accomplished musician, according to a news release. At the Academy, she takes private voice and piano lessons with Abi Nash, is a member of the teen a cappella group, and was part of the North Atlantic Blues Fest this summer.

In addition to that, she's also in her school band and chorus program, and was recently accepted into the D3 Honors Band on ten or sax.

Highly motivated and willing to explore new musical ideas, Alydia is a great student, according to Nash. She constantly is looking for a new challenge and continually pushes herself to extend her technique and her musical range.

One of her goals for this semester was to sing with more power and ease in her upper register, which she accomplished by learning the title track to Phantom of the Opera. She also wants to be able to support her singing by playing piano and added on 15 minutes of piano to each voice lesson.

Nash said, in the release: "Alydia is innately a musician, and she makes musical choices that far exceed her age. The maturity in her voice and her work ethic make her a joy to teach. I look forward to continuing to see her grow in the coming years."
