Mt. View Chamber Singers give candlelight performance in Lincolnville

LINCOLNVILLE – The Mount View Chamber Singers presented their 25th annual Carols in the Round on Sunday, December 20, at the Lincolnville United Christian Church. The acappella group performed 14 carols. Done by candlelight, the singers arranged themselves around the audience, which was seated in the center section of the church. Rotating their positions with every song, the audience heard different singers with every song.
Susan Stonestreet, who is pastor at Lincolnville United Christian Church, said the singers are at the church each year.
“This is a special occasion for us,” she said. “This is probably the 20th time we have had the chamber singers here. It’s an annual event and tradition and as you can see we are pretty much packing them in.”
Stonestreet has been with the church for 17 years and said that during the holidays the church enjoys much for the community.
Liz Clifford is a soprano with the singers and Micaela Ellis is an alto. Ellis said this is her third year with the singers and it’s the fourth for Clifford. Two years ago, the two girls accompanied the group on a trip to Costa Rica and last week to Canada.
The two said the group auditions new members as others graduate out.
“The group, not including us, has been to Italy, Hungary, El Salvador, Scotland and England,” said Ellis.
The singers help support themselves through sales of their CDs and direct donations. Sunday’s concert was next to the last of 29 churches visited by the singers for their 25th annual tour.
The Mt. View Chamber Singers consist of Sopranos Dana Albright, Elizabeth Clifford, Myah Hatfield, Lillian Redwine and Reilly Sullivan. Altos are Francesca Davies, Micaela Ellis, Hadraine Hatfield, Emily Keating and Hailee Macomber.
Bass: Jacob Callas, Ezekiel Illingworth, Tobin Pontillo, Jordan Quimby and Chandkler Wilson. Tenors: Edward Angelo, Luke Daviis, Seth Davis, Cameron Morin and Peter Stilkey.
