Midcoast Music Academy announces new faculty, Board member
Midcoast Music Academy (MCMA) announces new additions to their faculty and Board of Directors.
"Their expertise and experience are certain to enrich the community music school’s mission: to harness the power of making music with and for others, through equitable access to instruction, performance and community programming," said MCMA, in a news release.
MCMA’s new board member Kyle von Neumann is an educator, musician, and sailor. After studying music education at Miami University, he served as the assistant director of a music school in Atlanta. While there, he also started an instrumental music program at a K-12 private school, as well as an accessible steel drum program. Now rooted in Rockland, von Neumann is a licensed boat captain who contributes his time and expertise to Morning in Maine, The Apprenticeshop, and The Sail, Power, and Steam Museum. You can also find him leading midcoast Maine’s community steel drum band, Pen Bay Pan.
New MCMA faculty member Evan Lattimore (teaching percussion, drum kit, brass, and woodwind) brings vast experience and established musicianship to the MCMA team. He comes to Maine from Massachusetts, where he served for twenty years as a middle school music teacher. A classically trained percussionist, Evan graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music; he also earned a Masters of Arts Teaching Degree. When he’s not instructing students, he’s busy traveling the globe, performing as a percussionist and timpanist.
