Sun, 02/10/2019 - 4:00pm

ROCKPORT — Midcoast Community Chorus welcomes singers of all ages, experience, and abilities to register for the spring semester of weekly rehearsals. Their June concert traditionally benefits a selected local nonprofit organization.

Registration-in-person occurs on Mondays, Feb. 25 to March 11, from 5 to 6:15 pm., before rehearsal from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. All sheet music is provided to singers. Singers may also register online by going to www.mccsings.org and click sequentially tabs Sing!, Community Chorus, and Registration.

It is optional to purchase the semester sheet music and a practice CD. Registration for the semester is $80. Scholarships are available.

Each semester more than one hundred singers of ages 13 to 95 join the chorus to sing under the direction of Steven Weston, artistic director, accompanied by Sean Fleming, assistant director.  A tenet of the chorus is: The voice is the sound of the soul; all voices deserve to be heard; singing together builds community.

The music selection reflects different traditions, cultures, languages, and musical genres intending to provide hope, inspiration, healing, and joy to a concert audience, according to a MCC news release. At every concert the audience is invited to sing a few songs together in community.

Complete the form and submit it at registration prior to rehearsal February 25.

If you do not wish to register online, you may print out the registration form and mail it before February 18 to MCC, PO Box 192, Rockport, ME 04856.

Inquiries may be made by emailing mcclleach@gamil,org  or calling  975-0582.

“We look forward to your joining us for another fantastic semester of song,” said MCC.
