Mid Maine Sports Car Club holds event in Camden
Foreign sports and touring cars converged on Camden June 8, during the 12th annual Camden Foreign Car show. The show is sponsored by the Mid Maine Sports Car Club, whose members support the preservation and enjoyment of British and European sports and touring cars made prior to 1985. Founded in 2002 by Rockport clockmaker, Jim Lea, the club has grown to more than 140 members.
Cars at the show vied for trophies in four classes. The winners were:
• Saloons and Touring Cars; Don Foster, Camden, in a 1965 Jaguar S-type
• Vintage Sports Cars: Marty Welt, Nobleboro, in a 1953 MG TD
• Traditional Sports Cars-Early Period: Frank Wnek, Harpswell, in a 1965 Morgan Plus 4
• Traditional Sports Cars-Late Period; Albert Aniel, Mexico, in a 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000
• Best in Show winner was Frank Wnek's Morgan.
