Mid-Coast Solid Waste Transfer Station to resume recycling May 20; limited material accepted

    ROCKPORT — In accordance with Maine CDC and Governor Mills guidelines, Mid-Coast Solid Waste (MCSW) will trial a phased approach to accepting a specific list of recycling materials beginning Wednesday, May 20, 2020.

    Phase 1 of this trial schedule will only accept recycling materials on Wednesdays and Thursdays and limited to the acceptable materials listed below.

    Only residents and businesses from the towns of Camden, Hope, Lincolnville and Rockport are allowed to participate. This schedule will continue on a weekly basis until further notice.

    ACCEPTABLE MATERIALS

    (Wednesday and Thursday only)

    Steel/Tin/Aluminum Cans and Containers

    Newsprint/Magazines/Paperback Books (NO BINDINGS/BINDERS or Hard Cover Books)

    #2 Colored/White Plastic (Laundry Detergent Bottles)

    #2 Natural Plastic (Milk/Juice/Water jugs)

    Corrugated Cardboard & Brown Paper Bags and Universal Waste will continue to be accepted daily during normal hours of operation.

    If recycle materials are brought to the facility on a different day, it will not be accepted.

    Glass

    Mixed Paper – Cereal Boxes, Juice/Milk Cartons, Office Paper/Envelopes, Junk Mail

    #1 Plastic

    3-7 Plastic

    Film Plastic

    The Swap Shop - Closed

    Compost – Suspended

    MCSW is committed to protecting the safety of our employees and the community and will expand the recycling program through additional phases as appropriate. Additional notices will be provided to alert the public of future changes.
