CAMDEN — Merryspring Nature Center will host the first annual Tomato Tasting, Saturday, September 14, from 12 - 3 p.m., in the Hexagon.

Up to 30 varieties of heirloom and hybrid tomatoes will be available at this flavorful event including slicing; Roma and cherry varieties all provided by the Maine Heirloom Seed Working Group and Merryspring growers. Please do not bring your own tomatoes.

There will be an ‘Ask the Experts’ panel from noon to 1:15 p.m. Some of the topics include growing the perfect tomato, heirloom vs hybrid and more.

The tasting starts soon after the panel discussion and runs from 1:15 to 2:30 p.m. From 2:30 - 3 p.m., there will be a closing discussion of how to save tomato seeds and a raffle.

This event will take place in the Hexagon and is free and open to everyone, no pre-registration required. In case of rain the event will move inside.

Merryspring is your community nature center offering walking trails, cultivated gardens, wildlife, and ecology and horticulture educational programs all year round.
