Medomak Valley baseball blanks Belfast

WALDOBORO — The Belfast and Medomak Valley varsity baseball teams met on the diamond in Waldoboro for a Wednesday, May 8 showdown. 

In the end, the host Panthers collected a 6-0 victory over the visiting Lions.

With the victory, Medomak Valley boosted its record to 6-1. Belfast’s record, meanwhile, dropped to 5-2 with the loss. 

Up next for Medomak Valley is a road contest against Gardiner on Friday, May 10 at 4 p.m.

Up next for Belfast is a home game against Ellsworth on Thursday, May 9 at 4 p.m.

Medomak Valley tallied two runs in the opening inning and one each in the second, third and fourth frames. 

Belfast collected five hits and recorded four errors. 

Medomak Valley recorded three hits and committed no errors. 

Working the mound for Medomak Valley was Creamer (six innings, nine strikeouts) and Pruell (one inning). 

Pitching for Belfast were Jason Bartlett (five innings, four strikeouts) and Brandon Cournoyer (one inning). 

Pacing the Belfast offense were Dakota Payson (two hits) and Samuel Davis (one hit). 

Pacing the Medomak Valley offense were Fillmore (two hits, RBI), McCollett (RBI) and Widdecombe (RBI).
