HOPE — Mary Jane Mitchell, 76, passed away peacefully on her next journey, at her home in Hope on May 3, 2021.
Mary Jane was born on April 17, 1945 in Hope, Maine to Elmer C. Hart and Lois (Jacobs) Hart. She was raised in Hope and attended local schools. She graduated from Camden High School in 1964 and then attended Ricker College in Houlton, Maine.
Mary Jane was a stay at home mother to her two sons, Elliot and Adam. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, which was her true passion. She was known as the “Clematis Lady.” Anything she planted came forth with abundance!
She was a disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ, a loving wife, mother and she was admired by all who knew her.
Mary Jane was predeceased by her parents; her brother Sherwood; and her very special friend, Jennifer.
She is survived by her husband, Elliot, of Hope; sons Elliot H. Mitchell of Rockport and Adam H. Mitchell and wife Kali of Hope; sisters Brenda Holman of Farmington, and Marie Powers of Hope; brother John Hart of Rockport; granddaughter, Emma Mitchell of Hope; as well as her special friend Brenda of Appleton.
A special thanks to Dr. Minda Gold for her care and kindness these many years and to the hospice family for their care, support and compassion. Jane’s family will be forever grateful. A funeral service will take place at a future date followed by words of committal at the graveside.
