Mark Josef Snow, obituary

Mark Josef Snow, 65, died peacefully March 26 with his dear friend, Dan, and his brother by his side. Mark was born in Middletown, Connecticut, July 14, 1954, the son of June and Nicholas Snow. He is survived by his brother, Jacob, and wife Martha; his sister, Caitlin, and her husband, Samuel Clark, and a half dozen nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Mark grew up in Detroit, Michiga,n with his three brothers, David, Benjamin and Jacob.

After high school, he spent time in the Marine Corp., advancing to Corporal. Later, Mark joined the Navy, serving in submarines. Mark had many talents. Besides a Marine, Mark was a fisherman, comedian, toolmaker, blacksmith, goldsmith, engineer, groundskeeper and artist.

It seemed he could make something beautiful from anything — metal, glass, leather, wood, stone and paint. Did we mention he was a comedian?

Mark was such a kind and giving man that, he would give away his most precious things (to the chagrin of many), most often to strangers. Keeping that spirit alive we request that, in lieu of flowers, please surprise a stranger with a random act of kindness.

A celebration of Mark’s life will be announced when we have details, he wished for a party over a funeral and we are sure we can make that happen.
