Police arrest man out on bail with possessing a firearm in Warren home
ROCKLAND – A Wiscasset man remains in the Knox County Jail after he was arrested for allegedly having a firearm in a Warren home.
John Andretta Jr., 36 was charged by the Knox County Sheriff’s office with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and violating a condition of release March 18.
He made his initial appearance in Knox County Court on the afternoon of March 19 where Judge Patricia Worth set his bail at $2,500 cash.
According to the affidavit field in court by police, the department was notified of a domestic dispute in Warren. A teenager came home and reported to his mother that he found Andretta in the home with a gun. The teen then left the residence.
When officers from the Sheriff’s Office and Thomaston Police Department arrived at the home, they found Andretta outside and apprehended him. A 20-gauge shot gun was found hidden under a mattress. The suspect told police that he only touched the gun to remove shells.
The homeowner confirmed to police that she did not have a gun, according to the affidavit.
Police said that Andretta appeared intoxicated.
Andretta’s previous drug conviction in 2017 barred him from having a firearm. He was on bail when he was arrested on March 18.
He is schedule to appear in court again on May 1.
