Man charged after threatening partner with machete
BELFAST — A Belfast man was arrested Dec. 26, following a reported domestic disturbance. Belfast Police Department Officer Lewis Dyer was dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival at the Ryan Road residence, Officer Dyer learned that Shawn D. Kivlin, 40, had threatened the complainant with a machete.
Though Kivlin did not seriously injure the victim with the weapon, they were left with scratches to the arm, according to Belfast Police Sergeant John Gibbs.
He was reportedly cooperative when placed under arrest. Kivlin has been charged with elevated aggravated assault, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, and two counts of domestic violence assault.
Kivlin remains in custody at Waldo County Correctional Center.
