Major construction on Rockland's Oak and Orient streets begins April 6

ROCKLAND — Major construction is due to begin Monday, April 6 for the Oak and Orient Street Improvement project. According to a City of Rockland news release, the project will involve extensive excavation and roadway work, and residents and businesses in the area should be advised to expect significant traffic disruption, noise, and general inconvenience during the construction period.
Project details provided by the City:
- Work is expected to begin on Monday, April 6. The project will be substantially completed by Tuesday, June 30. The project will be fully completed on Friday, October 16. Work is expected to take place 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Motorists can expect limited or no access to Oak and Orient Streets for the duration of the project. There will be no on street parking on Oak Street, and no parking in the municipal lot between Oak and Orient. All efforts will be made to allow full vehicle traffic on nights and weekends. All business entrances will always have pedestrian access.
- City officials, City contractors, and Public Safety will all be in coordination to always allow emergency vehicle access. This project is 100% committed to the safety of all involved.
