Event Date
Saturday, May 02, 2026 - 10:00 am to 12:00 pmJoin Maine Master Naturalist Ama LaBelle for the first of a two-part vernal pool series, Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Tanglewood 4-H Camp and Learning Center, in Lincolnville; the second session will take place Saturday, May 30, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.. at the same location.
Both sessions will dive into the mysteries of vernal pools. The group will discuss what vernal pools are, why they are unique and important habitats, and the kinds of life they support. Time will also be spent exploring the pool with nets and hand lenses. The second session will give the group a chance to see how things change and grow.
Participants are welcome to attend either or both sessions.
"Fair warning, if you attend the first program, you will almost certainly want to come to the second to see whether the eggs have hatched and if the tadpoles have grown legs," said Coastal Mountains Land Trust.
