AUGUSTA — Maine State Police Troop D reported the following activity Feb. 2-16. Troop D is responsible for Maine's Midcoast, including Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Waldo, and Knox counties, the southern half of Kennebec County and part of northern Cumberland County. The troop also patrols Interstate 295, from Brunswick to Gardiner. The troop's complement includes a lieutenant, three sergeants, 25 troopers and a secretary. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.

Feb. 2

Trooper Jeremiah Wesbrock stopped a vehicle for having an expired registration. Shara Macdonald, 51, was charged with operating an unregistered motor vehicle (150+ days).

Trooper Wesbrock solved a theft case from December 2013. Bruce Tillson, 36, was charged with felony theft for stealing approximately $100 in change from his previous employer in the town of Washington.

Feb. 3

Trooper Seth Allen responded to the report of a burglary at Dunkin' Donuts on Maine Avenue in Farmingdale. Forced entry was made and a safe was broken open. Investigation continues.

Trooper Corey Smith stopped a vehicle on Main Street in Unity for a stop sign violation and determined the operator, Trisha McPherson, 44, of Unity, held a suspended license. She was issued a summons for operating after suspension.

Trooper Erin Ball responded to a call of bad checks being written at Seaman Christmas Tree Farm. Brian True, 41, had written a check in December 2013 for three Christmas trees. Trooper Ball issued True a five-day notice to repay the money and issued him a summons for negotiating a worthless instrument. True repaid the money Feb. 7.

Trooper Niles Krech and Sgt. Jeffrey Mills went to River Road in Chelsea to return 50 guns, which were seized from a prior incident, to owner Brian Wilson. While there, Trooper Krech spoke with Wilson about his bail conditions. During a search of his residence, multiple pieces of drug paraphernalia were located. Wilson was issued summonses for violating conditions of release and sale and use of drug paraphernalia.

Trooper Krech stopped a vehicle in Topsham for a seat belt violation. It was discovered the driver, Adam Pottle, 22, had a warrant. Passenger Cole Lloyd, 21, also admitted that he had a marijuana pipe on him along with hashish oil. Lloyd was issued summonses for unlawful possession of a schedule X drug and sale and use of drug paraphernalia. Pottle was arrested and transported to Two Bridges Jail without incident.

Trooper Benajamin Sweeney initiated a traffic stop for speed on Knox Ridge Road in Thorndike. Further investigation revealed the driver, Joshua Treat, 24, of Lincolnville, had marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Treat was issued summonses for possession of marijuana and sale and use of drug paraphernalia. He was also issued a summons for speeding.

Feb. 4

Trooper Thomas Bureau stopped Erik Pippin, 20, for a seat belt violation on Route 126 in Litchfield. Pippen ultimately surrendered a usable amount of marijuana and a marijuana pipe. Pippin was issued summonses for sale and use of drug paraphernalia and possession of a useable amount of marijuana. He was warned for the seat belt violation. Trooper Eric Verhille and K9 Clint assisted.

Trooper Bureau stopped Joshua Blanchard, 27, on Route 139 in Unity for a loud exhaust and an improperly displayed front license plate. Investigation revealed Blanchard was in possession of a pipe used to smoke marijuana. Blanchard was issued a summons for sale and use of drug paraphernalia. Trooper Verhille, K-9 Clint and Sergeant Field assisted.

Trooper Bureau stopped driver Amy Noyes, 34, on Route 139 in Unity for an expired inspection sticker. Following investigation, a passenger, Shane Parks, 30, surrendered a usable amount of marijuana and a pipe to smoke marijuana. Parks was summonsed for both offenses and Noyes was issued a ticket for the expired inspection sticker. Trooper Verhille assisted.

Trooper Sweeney initiated a traffic stop in Unity on a suspected suspended driver.

Feb. 5

Trooper Sweeney initiated a traffic stop on Main Street in Unity for a suspected suspended driver. Joshua Mitchell, 27, of Unity, was not suspended but had bought the vehicle and allegedly not changed the registration plates from the previous owner. Mitchell was charged with failure to register a motor vehicle and released from the scene.

Trooper Krech conducted a traffic stop on Cristina Chaput, 32, of Belgrade, for not having an inspection sticker. Trooper Krech discovered that Chaput's vehicle's registration expired more than a year ago. Chaput was summonsed for not having an inspection sticker and for failing to register her vehicle for more than 150 days.

Trooper Smith charged Robin "RJ" Muir, 22, of Lincolnville, with criminal mischief, resulting from an investigation originating Jan. 31. Muir was reported to have damaged a vehicle in Lincolnville Center.

Feb. 6

Troopers Kyle Pelletier and Mark Ferreira responded to a domestic disturbance on Bowman Street in Farmingdale. Donna Grover, 48, was ultimately arrested for domestic violence assault and transported to Kennebec County Jail.

Trooper Pelletier and Trooper Ferreira responded to a domestic disturbance on Louden Street in Farmingdale. The complainant and her son had a verbal argument that ended when the son left the residence.

Trooper Smith charged Michael Embry, 44, of Unity, for operating after suspension after he was found to be driving illegally on Stagecoach Road in Unity.

Feb. 7

Trooper Pelletier stopped Scott Babineau, 25, on Route 126 in West Gardiner for not having a front registration tag on his vehicle. Further investigation revealed that he falsely attached the rear registration tag. Babineau was issued a summons for attaching false plates.

Trooper Pelletier stopped Brian Costa, 54, on Route 126 in West Gardiner for operating a defective motor vehicle (loud exhaust). Costa's license was under suspension and he was issued a summons for operating after suspension.

Sgt. Patrick Hood stopped Gregory Thornton, 36, of Whitefield, on Route 17 in Windsor for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed Thornton was operating with an expired license (more than 90 days.) He was issued a summons for that violation and released to a licensed driver.

Sgt. Hood stopped Jennifer Rheiner, 38, of Augusta, on Route 17 in Chelsea for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed the vehicle was uninspected and the registration had expired in May 2013. Rheiner was issued a summons for operating with an expired registration more than 150 days.

Sgt. Hood stopped George Ganson, 30, of Round Pond, on Route 220 in Washington for an expired inspection sticker. Further investigation revealed the registration plate attached to his truck was expired and registered to another vehicle. Ganson was issued a summons for illegal attachment of registration plates.

Trooper Bureau stopped a vehicle for a headlight out on Route 126 in Monmouth. Further investigation revealed a passenger, Oliver Hyer, 35, was in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Hyer was issued summonses for both offenses.

Feb. 8

Trooper Bureau stopped Svea V. Tullberg, 35, on Route 17 in Windsor for displaying an expired registration plate. Trooper Bureau issued Tullberg a summons for failure to register a motor vehicle with registration expired for more than 150 days.

Trooper Ferreira stopped Matthew Pelletier, 26, of Randolph, in Gardiner for displaying expired registration on his vehicle. Pelletier was issued a summons for operating an unregistered motor vehicle with registration expired greater than 150 days.

Trooper Allen stopped Christopher McNickles, 43, on Maine Avenue in Farmingdale for a vehicle defect. McNickles was ultimately issued a summons for false attachment of plates. The vehicle was parked in a parking lot and the plates were taken off the vehicle.

Trooper James Macdonald stopped a vehicle on Route 7 in Jackson for not having an inspection sticker or front plate. Following an investigation, Shane Milliard, 31, was charged with false identification of registration plates and operating a motor vehicle with an expired registration greater than 150 days.

Feb. 9

Troopers Bethany Robinson, Evan Teel, and Thomas Bureau responded to a vehicle roll-over on Quaker Hill Road in Unity. The operator, Hilary Emma, 32, of Unity, was arrested for operating under the influence and issued summonses for driving to endanger and failing to notify of a property damage accident by quickest means.

Trooper Ball stopped William Kinch, 56, for speeding on Route 9. Kinch was issued a warning for speed and a summons for failure to provide proof of insurance. Kinch was also issued a summons for operating with an expired license greater than 90 days. Kinch's passenger, Terri Hanscom, 51, was also issued a warning for not wearing a seat belt.

Trooper Sweeney observed a pickup truck pass by his position on Route 7 in Jackson and he recognized the passenger as Marshall Lowe, 50, of Jackson. Trooper Sweeney knew that Lowe had an active warrant for his arrest. Trooper Sweeney made contact with Lowe on Route 139 in Brooks and placed him under arrest. During the arrest it was discovered that Lowe had drug paraphernalia and he was summonsed for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Trooper Sweeney initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at the intersection of Route 139 and Route 7 in Brooks for failing to stop at the stop sign. Amy Rae Parsons, 28, of Bangor, was driving with a suspended license. Parsons was issued a summons for operating after suspension and the vehicle was towed.

Trooper Corey Smith investigated a report of phone harassment in Liberty.

Feb. 10

Troopers Erin Ball and Donald Webber responded to a reported domestic situation on Hallowell Road in Litchfield. No assault had occurred and both parties were advised not to harass each other. No further action was taken.

Trooper Seth Allen stopped Zachary Hanley, 35, of Gardiner, on Maine Avenue in Farmingdale for expired inspection. At the time of the stop Hanley's license was expired by more than 90 days. Hanley was summonsed accordingly.

Trooper Teel stopped Jason Trefethen, 37, for a speeding violation on Route 202 in Troy. After investigation Trefethen and a passenger, Jessica Johnson, 27, of Stockton Springs, were issued summonses for smoking in the vehicle with a minor. Their newborn infant was in the rear seat while they both smoked cigarettes.

Feb. 11

Trooper Robert Cejka stopped Tyler Vangel, 20, for speeding 91 mph on I-295 in Gardiner. Vangel had bail conditions and his vehicle was searched with the assistance of Trooper Ball. Vangel was issued summonses for possession of a usable amount of marijuana, speeding and having a passenger with an open alcohol container. Samuel Rogers, 19, and a juvenile female passenger were also both issued summonses for possession of a usable amount of marijuana.

Trooper Pelletier responded to a two-vehicle crash on Neck Road in West Gardiner. Geoffrey Johnson, 53, fell asleep while driving and drifted across the center line, striking another vehicle head-on. No personal injury resulted from the crash. Johnson displayed signs of impairment and his license was also under suspension. Johnson was charged with operating under the influence and with operating after suspension.

Trooper Jeremiah Wesbrock stopped a vehicle for speeding on Route 202 in Unity. Jacob Willey, 22, of Clinton, was charged with the speeding infraction and with operating under the influence.

Trooper Niles Krech stopped Derrick Dupont, 23, in Farmingdale on Route 201 for an expired inspection sticker. Dupont admitted to having marijuana on him and a marijuana pipe. Dupont was issued summonses for possession of marijuana and sale and use of drug paraphernalia, as well as given a ticket for the expired inspection sticker and not having a rear window in his station wagon.

Feb. 12

Trooper Krech charged Wilheim Beasley, 28, with violation of conditional release at the State Police Troop D barracks in Augusta.

Trooper Greg Stevens took a theft report from On Target Utility Services in Gardiner in an effort to assist Gardiner Police with the investigation. Following investigation, Shawn Bragg, 33, of Winslow was charged with the class D theft.

Troopers Ball and Krech and Sgt. Jeffrey Mills responded to a burglary in Farmingdale. Investigation continues.

Feb. 13

Sgt. Hood and Trooper Teel responded to the Maine State Prison in Warren where Correctional Officer Travis Lyon, 37, of Vassalboro, was taken into custody on three charges of unlawful sexual contact.

Trooper Wesbrock arrested Derek Keller, 23, of Freedom, on a warrant. The warrant was for a theft charge from a case Trooper Wesbrock investigated in which Pike Industries was victimized.

Trooper Mark Ferreira responded to Hallowell Road in Litchfield for a suicidal female.

Trooper Cejka stopped to assist Daniel Hermann, 38, who was in the breakdown lane of I-295 in Topsham, with his hazards on during a snow storm. Following investigation, Hermann was arrested for operating under the influence.

Feb. 14

Trooper Ferreira stopped Douglas Macmaster, 53, of West Gardiner on Maine Avenue in Farmingdale for not displaying an inspection sticker. Further investigation revealed that Douglas' license had expired. Macmaster was issued a summons for operating with an expired license greater than 90 days.

Trooper Bureau stopped Alexandria E. Caouette, 18, for having a headlight out on School Street in Unity. Trooper Bureau detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search produced a usable amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Caouette was issued summonses for both offenses.

Trooper James Macdonald stopped a vehicle on Route 3 in Augusta for driving on the wrong side of the road. The odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle. Following investigation, passenger Derek Elvin, 20, was issued summonses for possession of a usable amount of marijuana and sale and use of drug paraphernalia.

Trooper Macdonald stopped a vehicle on Pond Road in Albion for having an expired registration. Jeffrey Crockett, 43, was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle with an expired registration greater than 150 days.

Trooper Allen stopped Eugene Veilleux, 35, of Lewiston, on Route 126 in Monmouth for displaying an expired registration. Veilleux was issued a summons for operating with an expired registration (more than 150 days.)

Trooper Robinson stopped a vehicle on Depot Street in Unity for loud exhaust. Tyler Gelo, 21, of Searsmont, had a suspended license. A search of the vehicle revealed drug paraphernalia. Gelo was issued a summons for operating after suspension and sale and use of drug paraphernalia.

Troopers Robinson and Teel stopped a vehicle on Village Road in Jackson for loud exhaust. A search of the vehicle revealed marijuana and other drug paraphernalia. Michael Allard, 18, of Brooks, was summonsed for possession of a usable amount of marijuana. A juvenile passenger was issued a summons for sale and use of drug paraphernalia.

Feb. 15

Trooper Robinson stopped Kyle White, 21, on Route 220 in Unity. White's license was determined to be suspended and he was issued a summons for the offense.

Trooper James Leonard stopped a vehicle for speed and a defect on Route 1 in Woolwich. Samuel Haiden, 22, and Rachel Higley, 19, of Portland, were issued summonses after a vehicle search revealed marijuana, a scale and two marijuana grinders belonging to Higley.

Trooper Cejka stopped Almudena S. Sevella-Perez, 45, for speeding on I-295 in Bowdoinham. Her license was suspended and she was issued a summons for the offense.

Trooper Verhille stopped Denise Clark, 43, of Orono, for operating an unregistered motor vehicle greater than 150 days. Clark was issued a summons for the offense.

Trooper Ball responded to a call in West Gardiner where the complainant had a protection from abuse order against James Demmons, 38. Demmons was at the residence but had not been successfully served the paperwork. Trooper Ball, Sgt. Hood and the Kennebec Sheriff's Office located and served Demmons.

Trooper Sweeney issued Mark Leboeuf, 52, of Benton, a summons for illegal attachment of plates.

Feb. 16

Trooper Sweeney took a complaint of burglary on Tyler Lane in Frankfort. Piping and other items were taken out of a home. Evidence was collected and the investigation continues.

Troopers Smith and Sweeney responded to Thorndike for a reported domestic disturbance. There was no evidence of a crime and all parties were calm on arrival.

Trooper Allen stopped Misty Ireland, 29, on Route 17 in Windsor for speeding. Investigation revealed that the registration plates had not been registered to her new vehicle from her previous vehicle. Ireland was issued a summons for illegal attachment of plates and given a permit to drive home.

Trooper Allen arrested Rex Lee, 35, of China, at his home on a warrant.

Troopers Teel and Bureau responded to a residence on South Road in China for the report of an unattended death, believed to be from natural causes.

Trooper Krech responded to a crash on Branch Mills Road in China. Following investigation, Brooke Whitney, 23, was issued a summons for operating after suspension.
