ROCKPORT — Maine Sport Outfitters is hosting a Turkey Ride the morning of Saturday, Nov. 16 to benefit the Camden Area Food Pantry.

Starting at 9 a.m., participants will bike from Maine Sport Outfitters in Rockport to Hannaford in Camden where they will purchase a frozen turkey.

Participants are then responsible for transporting their turkey from Hannaford to the Camden Area Food Pantry on Mt. Battie Street in Camden.

After a successful drop-off, participants can bike back to Maine Sport Outfitters to enjoy hot beverages and snacks, generously provided by the Bay View Collection (Lord Camden Inn, Grand Harbor Inn and 16 Bay View.)

This is a family-friendly event and all ages are welcome, though those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

All participants must wear a helmet and sign a waiver in order to participate.

Registration for the ride is free, though participants should bring at least $25 to cover the cost of the frozen turkey they will be purchasing at Hannaford.

Participants are encouraged to dress warmly and bring along a backpack or pannier to carry their frozen turkey.

The event will be rescheduled to Sunday, Nov. 17 if inclement weather forces a postponement.
