Maine State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a Burnham woman early Sunday after an intruder entered her home, according to a news release from the Maine Office of Public Safety.
Dead is Joyce Wood, 72, who died after calling 911. Before State Police and the Waldo Sheriff's deputy arrived at Wood's house, family members arrived, found Wood and [placed her in a vehicle in the driveway.
At that point she was stricken and died in the vehicle.
A trooper and a deputy arrived shortly afterward and located the intruder inside. The young woman was questioned for several hours and released. An autopsy was performed on Wood at the State Medical Examiner' Office in Augusta, but the results are being withheld.
State Police say no charges have been filed and the woman found inside the house has cooperated with investigators. She likely will be interviewed again as evidence from inside the house is analyzed, police said.
