Maine poets, writers Megan Grumbling, Bill Roorbach read at Gibbs Library, June 29

    WASHINGTON — Gibbs Library will host poet Megan Grumbling and novelist Bill Roorbach on Saturday, June 29, at 4 p.m., in the Bryant Room. These two Maine writers will read their poetry and prose, sign books, and take questions from the audience.

    “Join us for an afternoon of poems, stories, conversation, and delightful community,” said Gibbs, in a news release.

    Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

    Megan Grumbling is the author of the poetry collections Persephone in the Late Anthropocene and Booker’s Point. She often collaborates as librettist with composer Marianna Filippi; their latest works-in-progress include choral pieces about glaciers and “the great blue.” Grumbling is also the co-director of the award-winning new documentary film We Are The Warriors, about Native American mascots.

    Bill Roorbach’s newest novels are Lucky Turtle and Beep, both from Algonquin Books, who also published Girl of the Lake, Life Among Giants, and The Remedy for Love. Nonfiction books include Temple Stream, about life and nature in western Maine, and Into Woods, more life and nature, come to think of it, both published in paperback by Down East Books.
