Lorraine B. Johnson, obituary
ROCKLAND — Lorraine B. Johnson, 87, passed away with her loving family by her side on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at her home in Rockland, ME. Lorraine was born on December 7, 1931 in Rockland, to parents Robie Jackson, Sr. and Lucy Allen Jackson.
Lorraine grew up on Spruce Street in Rockland with her five siblings and attended local schools. Later met her future husband with whom she had two daughters. Marriage ending in divorce she married her second husband and they had 11 children together.
Lorraine became a homemaker and after her children were grown she went to work at the local fish factories for many years. Upon retirement Lorraine started to enjoy her many hobbies which included putting together Jig-saw puzzles, Word Search books, reading the daily papers and magazines, watching the Wheel of Fortune and her daily soap operas.
She also enjoyed going shopping with family, going on long rides, lawn sales and family get-togethers. The family fondly recalls that she loved to cook for “the boys.”
Her children were her caregivers but especially her son Bruce who stayed with his mother and took great care of her. The family also wishes to extend many thanks to the Maine Health Hospice Program for all their help .
Lorraine was pre-deceased by her parents, an infant daughter Laurie. Two brothers John and Robie Jackson, Jr., and two sisters Alice Wooster and Naomi Rolerson. Along with a Great Grandson Laken Harrington.
She was also pre-deceased by her two husbands, Robert Doak and Arthur Johnson Sr.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Angela Vigue (Tim) of Washington, ME, Nancy Ernie (Ron) of Bangor, PA. Brenda Perkins of Rockland, ME, Arthur Johnson Jr. of Rockland, ME, Pamela Harrington (Lee) of Thomaston, ME., Cindy Mudgett (Chris) of Clark Island, ME, Ricky Johnson (Stephanie) of Rockland, ME, Bruce Johnson of Rockland, ME, Sharon Nickles (Ronnie) of Owls Head, ME, Steven Johnson of Rockland, ME, Mark Johnson and his companion Vicky Gower of Thomaston, ME, and Denise Poirier of Cushing, ME.
Lorraine is also survived by her sister Joyce Bean of Warren, Maine, 35 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
She will greatly missed by her family, her many friends where she lived on Park Street in Rockland where she enjoyed great times with them there.
A graveside service will be held for Lorraine, May 4, at 12 p.m., at the Achorn Cemetery, Old County Road, Rockland.
